Caprese Salad
Fresh mozzarella and Roma tomato slices topped with fresh basil and olive oil.

You should make sure your tomatoes are completely ripe since the flavor of this dish is totally dependent on them. Also, using regular firm mozzarella isn't an option here. Only fresh mozzarella will work.

Ingredients

  • Fresh mozzarella
  • Roma tomatoes, sliced 1/4-inch thick
  • Fresh basil
  • Extra-virgin olive oil
  • salt and pepper, to taste

Directions

Slice the mozzarella in 1/4-inch slices. On a serving platter, arrange mozzarella and tomato slices, alternating and overlapping a bit. Top with basil. Drizzle with olive oil; season salt and pepper.
